Brett Murphy, APN, PMHNP-BC
Brett Murphy is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner – board certified (PMHNP-BC), specializing in medication management and treating psychiatric conditions on an outpatient basis. He received his undergraduate degree in nursing from Stockton University and his Master of Science degree in nursing at Maryville University. He worked as a registered nurse for healthcare systems in Camden and Atlantic City for over a decade prior to becoming an advanced practice nurse (APN). He has over 10 years’ experience working in the mental health field in Atlantic and Cape May counties, in settings ranging from emergency room / crisis center psychiatric care to outpatient mental health treatment.
Brett takes great pride in being easy to talk to and helping people feel comfortable in uncomfortable situations. He prioritizes getting to know his patients, building a therapeutic rapport with them, identifying their treatment goals, and addressing those goals through appropriate and safe treatment interventions. In his role as a psychiatric nurse practitioner at the Mindful Counseling Center, he provides his patients with a psychiatric evaluation while formulating a medication management plan and follow-up, as clinically indicated.
Brett understands that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to mental health treatment. Some of his patients also seek out psychotherapy, others do not. With his patients, he strives to determine what works best for them to attain emotional wellness and stability, so they can be the best version of themselves.
